Bubbles & Temples | Salt Lake City

It's getting a little warmer so we decided to drop by the Salt Lake City temple today for Family Home Evening. We had fun blowing bubbles and walking the grounds. Day light savings just kicked in two days ago so everyone's time clocks are kind of off and we didnt last long. We had a great time though and always enjoy the feeling of walking in the shadows of the Lords house. Were looking forward to warmer weather and temple picnics just around the corner.

I had to head to Vegas for some work and took the chance to take a little family trip. We plan to visit all the temples in Utah but this was a great chance to take a trip to the Vegas temple. I served a mission here WAAAAAAY back in the day so it's always nice to visit the old mission. Good times!

South Jordan Temple Hunt

So we aren't trying to do this every week but we felt like we needed to get out tonight and find another temple. We didn't go far but had a nice drive to the South Jordan Temple. It's starting to get dark a little later but we didn't catch the temple before the sun went down. Another down side is that the gates were closed. The security guard said they had some "security issues". I wonder what that could mean. Anyways, so we hung out in the card and sang some primary songs and then went for some ice cream.

So this year one of my goals is to visit all the temples in Utah with the family. Visit the grounds take a moment and instill the importance of the temples with my kids. I thought this would be fun and get us out on a couple fun road trips. So on the list is: St. George, Logan, Manti, Salt Lake, Ogden, Provo, Jordan River (in South Jordan), Vernal, Bountiful, Mount Timpanogos (in American Fork), Monticello, Draper, and Oquirrh Mountain (in South Jordan).

Today we started with the temple across the valley. The Draper Temple.

Baby Gavin

I remember a few years ago seeing Unkie bounce up the stairs and give little Raleigh a toss in the air and then catch him in a big unkie hug. Gavin was the best uncle EVER! I loved seeing the boys run for him and talk about him and love him. Gavin soon left us to live in a much better place. He loved his nephews so much and he has been sorely missed. He has been a guardian angel with hugs and reassurance from heaven I am sure.
Now all this time later as I hear that my friends little baby has gone to live in that much better place too, I imagine Unkie's little name sake running up to him and getting tossed in the air and landing in a big Unkie hug. Baby Gavin David Bruce Norton is now with Unkie and many others who love and adore him in that eternal place of love and peace. Good bye for now baby Gavin. Im so sorry I didnt meet you here but I just cannot wait to meet and wrap my arms around you someday. Your little life brought the world together Gavin. Ill always remember and be greatful for your little stay on earth. We will miss you. We know you have more important things to do right now so thankyou for the short time you gave us. I know that because of our Savior we will be together again. Our families will get together and play at the beach in heaven.

I once heard a story about someone keeping two bottles full of rice and water. For a year this person would visit these bottles and be very positive to one and negative to the other. After a year they noted the effects and they showed complete opposite effects. One was just like the day the rice was put in the bottle and the other was moldy and dark. The experiment was to show the effects of attitude towards everyday things and how if your attitude can effect rice then how much more your attitude can effect people.

Okay so I'm pretty sure our neighbors wont be reading this blog but if they do i apologize for using your tree in my experiment :). Not you Heather and Sherman but the other neighbors LOL. So i tried this for a month. I have to note that these neighbors have keep up their yard very well and they have people come in every week to tend it. My yard on the other hand, yea... i wish i had the money to hire people to tend it. Thats not why i chose their yard LOL. I chose it cause these two trees are right at the end of my driveway (one of each side) so i figured they'd be exposed to the same amount of wind, sun, rain, etc.

So check out these pictures below. I'm no scientist but coincidence? Maybe. Still i think i did a real good job and being mean to one and nice to the other hahaha. Baby talk to the one and bad talking the other. Crazy results.

The last few months have been super fun for me!!:D Ive been walking Jakey to school and getting to know my friends more on the walks and then after the walks at the Church we work out our bodies:D Yaeee bodies:D haha. I have lost a little wt but I the coolest thing is the mental health the working out gives me! I get more done around the house I feel better about mself, and I have way more energy:D It usually takes me about a year to a year to two years to feel like myself again after I have a baby and this has been no acception.
Moving to Utah was way super hard for me emotionally and then I got knocked up lol and all the progress I was making went out the window but finally I feel like im moving along again spiritually and I have some amazing friends and things are exciting for me:D Things are always exciting for Jake but I finally feel like I have some things to be excited about on my own and there is really nothing cooler.
Im writing my dark vs. Light book and it might take me ten years but Im having so much fun being creative and thinking about having a book that I love:D Im also having fun with Twilight ladies and planing (kinda more like hanging out with people who are planning) the New Moon shin dig:D Planning parties and events is soooo FUN and being a part of one so big is soooo cool:D I know im a freak but Im not the only one lol:D hehe. Its nice to have company:D
Sooo anyways things are good and Im trying to start up with the blogging again so I can have a record for our family:D lol. So here we go:D lets hope our next post is in less than a week...month? haha k alohaz:D

Jake is just amazing:D He loves kids:D He loves his family:D He loves having FUN!!:D and he knows how to have a good time:D He is laid back and easy going but passionate about his art and his family:D I love watching him with the kids! He is a big kid himself so its always fun:D Im super proud of him!! These are just some fun pics from the last couple of years. He hates the snow so I had to take a picture of him out there slaving away for us:D hehe. No really he wont even play in the snow for more than five min. He hates it. Its hard to find things that Jake doesnt like with so much passion:D He is usually pretty laid back about things. Snow though oh how he wishes he could melt it with his lazer beam eyes:D lol...k moving on:D

Here he is weaving a sticker for our closet:D He can really focus. He is really good at anything he puts his mind to. He draws and paints and does graphic design and plays sports and sings and plays instuments and its really just sickening Jake. He has so many gifts its crazy that he is so humble about it all:D

Jake always plays for the kids and starts them on their musical journeys early. This is Jake and Bells. He loves his little princess:D

Jakey boy is just like his daddy. He draws for hours and worries about his family and loves his friends:D They have been peas and carrots since day one:D I still remember the look on Jakes face the first time we saw him:D proud and happy and full of emotions. So cute:D It was such a beautiful moment:D Did I already say he is the best daddy EVER? cuz he totally ROCKS as a daddy:D

Just wanted to post a quick love blog about my wife. Mandy is the best!! She is so supportive of all i do. Things haven't been super easy since we moved to the mainland but they have been fun and what's made it fun is having a companion like Mandy! She can always help me find my perceptive and put a smile on my face. She loves me and misses me when im away. She pushes me to succeed even when im doing a million things at one time and cant seem to find an end to any of them. I love you baby and thank you so much for being an inspiration to me. A Childs Prayer

K so I have had so many experiences with prayer and I know that it is real and that God Hears us every word. I was inspired by my good friend who always always always tells her kids to pray for help and guidance with EVERYTHING!!:D she is so faithful. Anyways so This morning my Jakey boy couldnt find his brown fuzzy crock(shoe) so he could go to school so I remembered Liz and decided to not be scared and just make the kid pray. SOoooo Jakey went into his room knelt down to pray and then as soon as he stood up he found his shoe in his lego box!!...I told him to say thankyou right away!! Isnt that soooo cool That Heavenly Father took time out of his buisy scedual with running the universe and all to answer a childs prayer to help him find his shoe? I love that!!.

I had a cool experience a while ago when Jake was on his mission. Jake gave me a love ring before he left (of Course haah) I wore it everywhere but it was too big and slipped off when I got active. Anyways so I was going for a run at night and tied it in my shoelace knot so I wouldnt loose it. I was running and running and then I went back to campus and sat down for dinner. I forgot about the ring for a little bit till I looked down at my shoes. I was with all my buddies and I realized the ring was soooo gone!! I RANNN out of there so fast to go look. I remembered hearing a ting and thinking nothing of it running down the back ally to Mcdonalds by PCC. Anyways as I was running there was this guy walking down the road too and I knew he was investigating the curch. anyways I didnt really think anything of that either except he theres that guy whos ivestigating the church HAHA K so anyways its a dark road and im looking and looking wating for cars to pass to light up the road. I was so scared I had lost that ring and Heavenly Father knew how much it meant to me. Anyways so finally I really stopped and said a heartfelt prayer for help and guess what was sparkling up at me as I opened my eyes and guess who was walking back towards me from Mcdonalds? It was just a girl and just a ring and just a little prayer, in the grand sceem of things it was soo minor but to me in that moment it was EVERYTHING. I knew God Loved me and that He would help me and I knew he was trying to build the faith of that investigator too. I told him what had happened cause we were just happenin to be walking down the same street at the same time and he saw everything. All he said was "Wow thats faith right there" Dont know if it effected him but it sure effected me:D Im so greatful for faith building experiences like that even though it was a small thing it makes me feel so big inside:D like Im worth the effort for Him:D we all are and i want my kids to know that too. Anyways so there is my story:D love to anyone who reads this:D I had to write it down so Jakey could look back and remember

Ive been in denial for a month and so havent written about her special little self yet:D I am so in love with my baby girl!! I just cant believe how big she is!! She is sweet and fun and loves her family already!! She started walking a few weeks before her birthday and has been getting into EVERYTHING!! She LOVES the toilet so bathroom doors are always shut. Its so cute to see her brothers taking care of her. Jakey always reminds Zion to shut the door after he goes potty. They love her so much:D so sweet:D Anyways Moms know how amazing it is to have a little girl who you can connect with. She is gunna go through the same things that I have and I hope I can help her along the way. Soo guess where we will be That is right in the title!! Hawaii Here we come!! Home sweeeeet home:D I cannot wait!! We are taking Bella cause she is free but poor Jakey and Zion have to stay home:( but they will have fun with which ever cousins they stay with:D Wahooooo:D The biggest reason I miss Hawaii is because of the freedom it gives my kids. We can walk out the door in slippers or barefoot (if the stoors said no shirt no shoes no service they would have noone to serve haha) and walk down the road to the beach or to the temple or to the movies or where ever and the access to everything is just right there you know. Laie is my home and I cant wait to go back. So I am sad my kids wont get to be there to enjoy with me but it will be really healing for us I think:D mmmm suuuuuuun:D mmmm rain:D mmmmm Greeen:D mmmmm Ocean:D Im soooo high right now:D
So Jake gets to go play his favorite venue and I get to manage the merch table and wardrobe and all that fun stuff:D haha!! He is so excited! Loves playing at home! So everyone spread the word:D wahooooo!!:D

Important totally rad things that happened this year!
1.Kindergarten!!! Jakey had Mrs. Scholts at first but she had a baby and now has Mrs. Ashley. He LOVES school:D

2. Became a big brother to a little sister:D He is seriously the coolest kid around when it comes to loving his siblings. I couldnt have asked for a better brother for my other kids:D

3. Visiting Emma and Gracie for Christmas! That was a huge Highlight for him!! I loves those guys. very sad when he figured out he couldnt marry them:D

4. He graduated from sunbeams finished a year as a CTR5 and is now a CTR6!! I just cant believe it!! He sets a great example for Zion who is now a Sunbeam:D so fun!

5. Jakey learned how to play playstation two. Rampage was his favorite game.

6. Jakey now eats carrots and Broccoli! that is great. its fun to see him trying new things these days

7. Jakey has been making lots of books lately and he is always drawing and coming up with fun things to create. He can make anything look cool. Im very proud of his hard work on his art skills.

8. Jakey knows his letters and numbers and is learning more everyday. Its so fun to see him learning and growing too!! he is sooooo big! in a good way:D

9. We read 1st Nephi with Jakey this year and took him out for icecream when we finished. Ware loving 2nd Nephi right now:)

10. Jakey has made so many new friends this year. He is a good friend and I think is smart about who he makes friends with. Ive really enjoyed wathcing him interact with the world more this year. He is such a sweek little boy:D

My first impression of Jakey when he was born was power or strength. He has such a sweet spirit. I know we were friends long before he came here:D I love seeing his compassion and kindness towards his siblings and his friends. He is so eager to learn new things and that is totally exciting for me. He is very obedient and tries very hard to follow the rules. He is a TOTAL artist and is always doing something creative. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next six years. Oh I just feel so blessed and so greatful for my little boy. He would be so mad if he knew I was calling him little but really he will always always be my baby boy. Love you jakey:D

Title says it all LOL. Just before a big storm comes in i just wanted to post this picture and say that i friggin hate the snow. So why do i live in Utah? So i decided that i want to start posting my pictures from my phone. Not the best quality but still i take a lot of pics with my phone that i dont want to loose so this is the best place i can think of to store these. Enjoy.

You might not know this but i am going to try and grow my hair out "again"! Its a long story about the last time i grew my hair out but here we go again. I've been growing it for about 2 or 3 months now. I'm thinking of not cutting it till it gets warm next spring or so. I think im just passing the really gay stage and crossing into the real greaser stage LOL. Thats what Mandy said this morning anyways.

Our little buddy Abi just got baptized and i feel REAL BAD that we missed it! I hadn't seen her till today and snapped this picture of her and her sister. Cute girls matching even :). Congratulations on getting baptized my little friend :).

So this one came out blurry but whatever, its a camera phone haha. This is jakeys new hoodie! You ever have those moments when your shopping for your kids and you see something small that you really wish they had in your size? This is the hoodies! I'm obsessed with hoodies FYI. Anyways, i saw Jake looking all spaced out at church today and snapped this picture of him LOL. NICE HOODIE!!!

My dad (Big Isi Dogg) came into town this week. Not for very long but long enough to make me REALLY MISS HIM AGAIN!! I love my dad and i'm glad i got to see him. My boys loved sleeping with Grandpa. One of the things my dad and i did while he was hear was paint two walls in our living room. Mandy wanted a red but i thought it would be to risky to get the right red so i played it safe like i usually do LOL and went with my favorite, an earth color. You almost cant even tell it's different but once i get some Sweet Wall Decals on that wall you'll see what im talking about. I dont think i've talked about Sweet Wall on here yet. More to come on that. Love having you hear dad and we miss you and mom so much! We hope to see you in 2009.

And of course i have to post a picture of Zion "Living the life" this 3 year old is a stud. Real strong, climbs and runs into anything hahaha. He is a handful but so much fun to watch grow.

I wanted to post a couple pictures that a good friend of mine took. Naomi Masina is an amazing photographer. The photoshoot is for something called the HYPE MOVEMENT. HYPE stands for Help Youth Pursue Emancipation. Its a movement of polys coming together to show the south pacific youth that it is well worth seeing your dreams and desires through. So im honored to be one that is helping with this movement but im also stoked to have some new promotional pictures too. Naomi you did an awesome job! Thank you so much.

Getting Tough

Good friends from work, Bear and Nes came over Friday night and hung out. They just got a little puppy that needs a lot of love so they brought him too. I knew the boys would love a little puppy visit. Tough is the name of their pup. I'm not good with remembering types of dogs so im going to say it was a pit bull. Super cute and i should have taken more pictures. It's been so long since i've had a dog. Because it was getting late Tough was tired and cuddle up on the pillows with the boys and went to sleep. No poop or pee in the house so no worries mom :). I was real impressed that this puppy is so well trained and so young. Anyways, i just wanted to post this picture of the boys watching a movie with Tough sleeping in between them. Cute.

I called 1-800-555-tell to check the weather and it said 42 degrees with a slight breeze..."uncle Jake can we go to the park please?" haha. "sure". Man it was cold. Anna and Eryn just moved here from Hawaii too so i was surprised they wanted to go outside. So these pictures are all taken with my little phone so the quality isn't that good but the content is priceless :). Enjoy and stay warm.

I cant believe we have gotten to hang out with Our awesome Zion for three whole years!!! That is just too crazy!! In so many ways he is still my baby. Im so sad he is growing up but so excited at the same time!! CRAZY!!

Zion loves to cuddle and climb. We should have named him George. He is so active and strong and smart!! Im in love with him head to toe:D. He loves his bro and sis and always makes sure they are okay when they are hurt. If he has a big fall he will jump right up and say iotay! and you ask him something like Zion you like your cake and he says yeah i like my cake. Anything you ask and he will just say yeah and repeat it:D. He is learning how to talk. He learns more all the time. I have so much to learn to be a good mommy but I feel extra special to have such an amazing little guy as my son:D. Yaee Zion.

Big things that happen this year.
1. almost all of your teeth came in!! two more left!
2. became a big brother and you are excelent at it.
3. you learned how to sled and your favorite thing to do was eat snow!!
4. you got a little bike and you are good at riding it!!
5. You had lots of visits with friends and family.
6. We took road trips to Wyoming to visit Grandma Rae. You are really good in the car if we let you out to wiggle once in a while:D
7. You LOVE cars. Anything with cars you love. You sleep with a little car in your hand every night.
8. You love mac and cheese!
9. You love jumping off of stuff.
10. You are in Joy school with Eleina and you LOVE it! you are learning so much and making friends.

Over confrence weekend we got to host our BYUH TVA party:D...it was a gathering of our friends from Hawaii who have moved to the mid west. We listened to confrence a little but mostly we talked and cought up on everything. There were about nine kids running aroun which was fun:D...I had to post some pics to remember:D..its been a crazy couple of weeks..haha...

So funny story here:D...I was so excited when people started showing up because for the first time in my life I felt prepared. I had gotten up early and made the cake and I had a funny feeling to make two batches and I did...I thought wow were really not gunna eat that much cake but I went ahead and made more anyways...so It was a beautiful cake in my nice pretty glass pan and I put it on the stove to cool and look pretty...wish I had a pic...haha...anyways sooo I asked Jake to help me by doingsomehting I cant remember...OH OH it was boiling potatoes...well anyways were sitting aorund with our friends and kabooooooSHHHHH we heard I big noise from the kitchen...we ran in thinking one of the kids had pulled something down...nope...Jake had turned on the wrong burner and there was glass and my cake was burning on a burner...HAHAHA..so we had to be carful the whole time that no one steped on the glass or ate the glass. Anyways good thing I made another batch...we had cupcakes instead with the same batter and it was great....oh my I was stressed out a little after that. so sad...HAHAHAH. anyways love you Jake. The potatoe salad was awesome:D..sep for the little glass Gregor got in his teeth...HAHAHAHA.. sorry Gregor.

Anyways I think the party was a success. later that week we went to the zoo with Andrea and Gregor and little Manoa...soooo FUN!! thanks guys

and Summer and Mike Shaefer stayed with us an extra night and then we took em to the airport that monday...OH my gosh I have another funny story about shopping on monday...youll have to ask me when you see me...HAHAHA... Thanks Mary and Summer for helping me out...HAHAHA

1 - I wait to fold my laundry till it is all done. which results in HUGE piles everywehre and really wrinkly clothes to send everyone off with.:D...its the style right:D

5 -When Im really nervous I talk a lot. I dont think before I say things then and most of the time say really dumb things...at least it makes people laugh. one time I met Sheri Dew and I cant remember exactly what I said but it was something like hey my mom is single so we belong together...HAHAHA. I was so starstruck!! hahah. funny day..ill never get over that one...so emberassing:D.

6 - If there is candy anywhere in my house Iwill eat it till its gone. I have Zero self controle when it comes to yummy sweets. zero..so if i avoid buying it i dont eat it but when its here ....oh its sooo gone:D

Im very proud of my brother Rob. He is a Capitan in the U.S air force and has worked very hard at everything he has done for them. Just recently i visited him in Vegas where he was doing a special training. I cant explain everything they did there but all you need to know is that only 12 people in the whole air force get picked to do this training and it is real intense! Out of the 12 only 10 made it through and it was a 15 week long training in Vegas. Since we are just a drive away i cruised down their with my sister to see him graduate from the training. Way to go Rob. Ofa lahi atu.

Jack Johnson is the shiz

So last night my sister watched the kids (all three of them! Thanks sis) and Mandy and I went to see Jack Johnson at the Usana Ampetheather! So much fun. That place is huge. Holds easy 20,000 people. Before the show there where booths to visit around the venue that taught you about being "green" and saving the world...that type of stuff. One of the cool things they had there was a photo booth where before you take a picture you have to push a button where you commit to do something. Honestly i cant remember the commitment hahaha but we took a fun picture. Wish we could have gotten a copy but the next best thing did happen. They picked a hand full about 20 pictures from the day and flashed them up on stage during the show. Mandy and I totally got our picture shown up on the stage! Can you say FAMOUS? LOL!

We had so much fun, singing along, and dancing. Jack was epic. He sounds so solid live and the stage lights and videos where amazing. Very inspiring and just what i needed. I didnt have a decent camera so we got camera phone shots of the night. I'll spare you the bad photos and just post one :). JACK IS THE MAN!!!

Sorry lame title i know BUT pretty dang cool website. Check out: Keds.com (thanks for the tip Lindsey). Now i've never worn a pair of ked shoes but what i like about this site is that it allowed me to create my own design and look on a frikin shoe! Way easier then drawing on one i'll tell you what! :). So im just getting started on this site but here is a look at what my first run was. Feel free to tell me what ya think?

So i designed them loaded them up and placed my design, i even saved it and loaded it to a store somewhere so if you want to get a pair or start designing your own check out THIS LINK. I think someones got to approve it or something. At any rate, it was fun and if i was ballin enough to pay 60 bucks for shoes that probably wont fit my tongan wide feet i might actually buy one :). Jakeys First Day of School

Jakeys pretty excited about starting school. He only goes for 3 hours but he is all about doing school and hanging out with little friends :). We took him to school this morning. All the Kindergarten kids lined up and met their teacher. They got name tags, made a train line with hands on each others shoulders, and made their way into class. I got tickets to COLDPLAY!!! They are hitting SLC in November. Still aways off by my seat is solid and im totally there!!! My life will be revolving around these tickets in November thats for sure. Alright. So if this actually loads and plays for ya let me explain what it is. It hell air re us!!!! Go figure on the last day of my security job i find this video editing software that allows me to make videos! Wish i had found that months ago when they shut down the internet at work haha. Anyways, so i quickly grabbed some of my favorite moments caught on camera and put it together in tribute to my security job. This basically runs through my long day from getting to work in the early am to trying to entertain myself hahaha. Fun stuff and i hope you enjoy it.

Breakdown

- I get to work before half the city even wakes up.
- Turn on all the lights in the building.
- Make Coffee (i dont drink it though) :). Its for the workers. Kind of gives us something to do when we get there.
- I walk around and act like im looking for anything out of the ordinary.
- The bulk of my day is sitting at the front of the building with NOTHING to do but stay alive and stay awake which believe it or not is harder then you think LOL.
- Randomly i might catch a lady fall on her face or get to make copies and do a little penguin dance haha, but most the time im just trying to do something dumb in front of the cameras and not go crazy.

It was a good year, the company was great, but i am super stoked to not being doing that any more.

School Starting Weekend

This weekend we have Mandys mom in from Billings and Mandys Niece Emma hanging out with us. Jakey had his screening for kindergarten on Friday. He had fun and the teacher didnt seem worried about anything. Jakey said he messed up on numbers and letters but he said he really liked rhyming. Thats my boy. I'm all about having creative kids :).

We did some school shopping this weekend too. Got Jakey hooked up and fresh to def thanks to some help from Grandma Rae. He got some new shoes and to try them out he pull a sonic the hedgehog and ran around the store at full speed haha. He is very excited for school and hit new kicks and cloths.

I on the other hand just hope he has so much fun. My little boy is going to school!!!!!! Crazy. Pretty emotional for me actually. It'll be fun to watch and help him go through school though. Your the man Jakey Boy!!

American Idol

Hey guys. So no good news on American Idol. I wont be all bitter cause the fact is that i actually feel good about it. I dont get hung up on rejection cause in this business you cant take anything personal or you'll never get anywhere. I would have loved to show America what i have but i guess i'll have to keep it going in another direction. That was my first and last audition with them cause im an old fart and cant audition anymore cause of age haha. In the end though im glad i got to do it.

Downsides where waiting in line forever! I had a two hour nap on Saturday night, woke up at 2 and went to stand in line at 2am. i have some friends that worked security and told me this was the best time to get in line. I went with some friends to audition and we just hung out all night. Good thing we did cause today when we auditioned we got to go first and get it over with and see if they wanted us. Some friends had to wait 5+ hours! That would have sucked.

Man they where cutting people left and right. Losers exit to the left and winners and freaks to the right hahaha.

So heres the deal with my table. They line everyone up in rows of 4. Each row steps up to a table (11 tables set up) I was at table 11. They just opened it and threw one nervous looking dude in the booth and i got to step up with four chicks. They all went and i went last. i noticed the dudes crack head body language right off. I stepped to the dude, smiled, sang "aint to proud to beg" by the temptation and kept felt good about it. Nothing i think i could have dont different. The guy then brought us up to the table and said something like this "as you know we are raising the bar...there are some good voices in this group, you guys need to be more confident...just not what we are looking for..." Exit stage left, cut your rist band, and take the walk of shame haha.

Two things that did kind of bug me with this judge was the fact that he didnt look at us when we sang to him. You'd think he would need to so he could know if we had confidence or not. He gave seriously uncomfortable glances left and right but never straight at us. The second thing is that the next two rows behind me had my friends in them and we talked about it afterwards and that judge said the same thing to them too. Part of me thinks they threw that guy in there to cut everyone that came to his booth. Who knows though. All i do know is that they lost a lot of good talent. I saw a lot of Utahs top artists not make it past that first round. Oh well. A hui hou and away we go to the next thing life brings at us.

So recently my work took away access to the internet which totally blows but i've been trying all kinds of things to try and stay awake (i wake up at 4am for work). Okay so one thing i've been doing to pass the time is sketching. While walking through Walmart i saw these kicks for 10 bucks and thought "hey i can draw on that" I took these to work and messed with them for about an hour. Crap! What do do with the next 7 hours!? haha. Just playing. It was fun. First time drawing on shoes and i think they came out pretty 'snazzy'. My dad is the man! Just yesterday someone came up to me to say hi cause they thought i looked like my dad. Sure enough i do :). When i was little people use to call me Isi all the time. I didn't think it was that cool to be called Isi till i was in high school. I guess i actually slowed my little mind down enough to realize how cool my dad actually was and is. He is a soldier in my mind. A true missionary man. He is always so full of love and focus. If you talk to my dad for more then 10 minuets you will know he has a testimony of god, family, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. He rarely gets upset. I guess being the youngest i missed out on all the Tongan style whoopings most others got LOL. Which means i just got the smack to the back of the head more haha. I know my dad loves me. I know he wants the best for me. I know my dad supports me. I know my dad is the man!! I know my dad loves my mom. Watching him and my brothers and the way they treat their spouses has taught me so much about how to be a dad and a husband. My family to put in simple terms is "THE BOMB!" I know thats a term from the 90s but its true. Isi you are the man! Happy fathers day Dad! Ofa Lahi Atu.

Dont Quit Your Day Job

I am a part time security guard LOL. So the suckyest part of my day job is that i have to wake up at 4am just to get to work on time. For the most part though i like my job, for now. It's temporary but it keeps money flowing to take care of bills. The coolest part is that in the 9 months that I've worked there they have let me get time off for gigs and not once complained about me being gone which i am really impressed by. Do you know how hard it is to keep a good day job and do music at the same time? It can be pretty tough so i for sure am counting my blessing with this one.

So at work we have about 30 cameras all over the building running 24/7. I get to watch these bad boys (BORING! haha) during my shift and one this day i thought it might be fun to find myself on the play back, take screen shots, and share with you what it a day at work might look like. All these shots are during the first hour of my shift so you wont see anyone around the building. I turn on the lights, make the coffee, and make a round every morning. The making the coffee part still cracks me up. Not super fun or exciting but im pretty stoked to have this as a documentation of one of my many jobs.

So here's a little update on the show and the week i had in Hawaii. I'm still on a high from it and haven't slowed down from wanting more. Here are some clips of things i did in Hawaii. The first clip is me singing "feel the breeze" thats a Jack Johnson style song that i wrote about how things on the island always seem different when you return. Always good but always changing. I also performed Wise Words on the air for him but i will be promoting the one i did with Roxy at www.beachwalks.tv bellow instead.

Doctor Trey is one of Hawaii's top producers and runs a studio out of Kaneohe Hawaii. He also has a pod cast that he'll do from time to time. Always a good time and i listen in as much as i can. Check out the podcast here. I actually met Roxy through Trey and met Trey cause he was one of my "Believers" that helped me fund my album at www.sellaband.com. Always a good time kicking back and shooting or i guess in this cause "feel(ing) the Breeze". Thanks Trey, Bran, and Vern for hanging and letting me play a couple songs.

FEEL THE BREEZE

This next clip is fun and makes me miss home just watching it. Roxy will usually (like 99.9% of the time) be walking down the beach on a very regular basis and talk to her viewers about different thing going on in her life and in the world. She is very supportive of local musicians and i was lucky enough to hang with her and do another beach walk with Rox :). Check it out. Make sure and listen through my interview cause i sing "wise words" and im happy with the way that came out. Wise Words & Interview

This last clip is actually the last song i did at the big BYUH show. It was the Hanahou which in Hawaii means 'encore'. The rest of the show is still being edited so I'll be posting that as soon as i get it. For now this clip from my friend Lindsey will be my teaser. That night was very special for me and very fun. To see so many people come out in support of my music was very validating. By doing that show i will now be putting together another proposal for more shows at the other colleges on the island which i am very excited about that even being a possibility. Other then the footage of the concert i also did a music video which i am waiting on as well. Probably wont be holding my breath but as always will post that when i get it ;). To rap this post up i will say that this was defiantly a highlight of 2008.

Man i've been on the go today just as i thought i'd be. I needed to meet with Travis about a music video and fridays show at 9am so i woke up hat 8:50 hahaha. I met with him, this other cool cat Joel Martin showed up to shoot the music video at 10am and we were at it all the way till 4pm and thats when i needed to meet with Natalie Norton for a photo session. We took shots for an hour and then i got a sec to throw a load of laundry in the wash LOL. Jumped in my brothers truck with Chad and we went to Kailua for band practice with UY. MAN I AM SUPER STOKED!! Marc, Tom, and Demitri are ON IT! They nailed it tonight with my songs and i am super stoked that my show will be ending with them helping me on 4 of my songs. Its going to be so strong. We have another practice tomorrow and then show time on Friday. SUPER STOKED and now its time for sleep. Aloha. Another full day tomorrow. :)

So i have yet to slow down and enjoy Hawaii since i've landed. Like i havent been able to just stop and really realize that im home and that i can relax a bit. Crazy but true. I've been on the go all day and tomorrow actually looks crazier then the last two days. Im going to try and sneek in a nap though cause man i really need one and i need to rest my voice and my body better before Friday.

Anyways, so i go to hang out today with Shane and Roxy from an awesome video posdcast called Beach Walks with Rox http://www.beachwalks.tv/and we shot a couple videos that will be up on her site in a couple days. Check out the rest of her videos too. She usually walks along the beach and talks about current events and just cool things that she feels like talking about. She has tons of viewers and is award winning for her site. It was very fun and i actually did feel like i got to slow down a bit and chill while hanging with them at the beach. When the videos come out i'll have to post them here as well. Aloha!

Hawaii Five HOME!!!!

Landed in Hawaii in the afternoon with beautiful breeze and 100% humidity!! Call me crazy but thats my kind of weather haha. Joel picked me up and straight away (almost religiously) went to L&L! Got the works and headed to his place for da kine grinds!(That means 'to eat' in local terms). I spend the night here and went to church with them. We hung out at my sister in laws after church and had some more onolishious food followed by a happy birthday to Isi boy. The kids 10 years old!! What the chicken!? That makes me feel old. I was still in high school when he was born and here he is now 10 on Tuesday.

Oh and a random light went on in my head at church today. "Email yourself pictures off your phone" i did it and it worked! I emailed myself the first picture on my phone which is of my sister in law Meilani posing with some L&L grinds.

Great to be home. Missing Mandy though and wish she and the kids where here. I'm headed to my parents house in La'ie tonight after hanging out on a post cast with Dr. Trey.

So tomorrow morning i take off on my journey to the mother land a.k.a Hawaii! Im very excited for the trip and stoked to do a show at BYUH. BUT i'm going to miss my wife and my little ones very much. Jakey is so cute, i was hugging him and talking to him about taking care of mommy while i was away and he told me "you dont have to worry about us when your gone dad." Stuff like that makes me just fill with emotion. One time i was having a bad day and Jakey asked me if i was happy and i told him "No daddy's not feeling very happy today" and his reply was "well you have to try to be happy dad." Wise Words! If you want to be happy you have to try to be happy. Anyways, i hope Mandy and the boys have tons of fun with her family and i will be wishing the whole time that they could be with me in Hawaii.

Very cool site i found that allows you to upload your pictures, add music, and it totally trips out your slide show for ya. You can even upload it to youtube or your blog or even download it. Anyways check out what i did with it. I've been messing with it and whats cool is they say that every video they make is different. The transitions are never the same. Pretty neat. Dude living in Hawaii i miss out on my favorite show out here. There was one show i really wish i could have been at when i was big into Audioslave. Free concert on the street in Hollywood actually. Coldplay is doing 2 free shows in June but not here :(. Its all good though cause i was just looking around their website and they are COMING TO SLC!!

Fun Family Weekend

Heres the latest picture of the kids taken yesterday after church. Bella is growing up so fast and the boys are loving it. Jakey is still always asking to "see baby's eyes" and Zion screaming "MY BABY MY BABY!". Such good boys.

Good times where had this weekend with the kids. One of the highlights would be the concert at Tahitian Noni. Full seats, little kids (friends and cousins) dancing on the side of the stage, friends, family , and new comers all coming out for support and a good time. The boys had fun dancing around to the music and it was great to Have some of the Kongaika family come out. Liana, Siope and Leina came too! So nice to see them at one of my shows.

Board and Lazy

K so Ive had an interesting time with the whole three kids thing and dealing with my weird hormones. So I feel like my poor kids are so board cuz I never wanna do anything never in the last two months. But then I think wait we do lots of stuff but then I think but mostly its watch finding Nemo. Ive been pretty lax about life latly cuz i am adjusting and trying to make sense of myself...haha. anyways I know it sounds like im rambling but maybe someone can feel what im saying. For Example. Today the kids watched finding Nemo and sesamea street and ran around the house until daddy took them out to the gym and to visit Liana. I made banana bread and put the dishes away. Thats it. I walked over my clean laundry waiting to be folded. I walked over my dirty cloths waiting to be washed. I ignored the popcorn all over the floor from last night and I took a walk with a friend. I fixed the couch and I checked my email and all the sellaband stuff and I read like 50 pages in the book a "theif in the night." some crazy cool stuff up in there:) Anyways soooo...Jakey just walked in and gave me some flowers and now im gunna give em a bath and put them to bed and then what should I do? I forgot that most of the day is also spent with my little baby on my boobie and feeling like I should be doing way way more than I am. Sooo what do I think of my self. I can always do more. anyways I need to just feel better about myself right? I mean Im not super mom and im jsut barely getting used to this whole three kids thing. oh well. try again tomorro say my prayers and do my best right?

Baby Blessing

Yesterday we had Bella's baby blessing. It was very nice and simple. my bishop asked me not to invite to many people into the circle so i kept it pretty low key. Mandy's family from Wyoming drove out and a couple of my dads siblings came out as well. It was very nice to have the support. While giving my baby girl a blessing my mind was stuck on the tempting and rapidly changing times she is going to be growing up in. I mainly focused my blessing on her being able to draw on inspiration and strength from family, church leaders, scriptures, etc to able to battle these times. I've seen so many challenges that i never faced growing up just in the last few years that make me worry as a father for my kids. The best i can do is try to equip them with trusting parents and places to go for strength when they need it.

Juno dis movie?

Mike called me up two nights ago and asked me out on a date haha. He, Ben, and I went to the dollar movies (actually ended up being 2 bucks "what the frik kine is dat!? lol) Dollar movies are supposed to be .50 or 1.00! "cant always get what you want" as someone in the background screams "Jake you cheap skate" haha. Its all good and im glad i brought the extra 3 bucks in QUARTERS hahahaha.

Juno was hilarious. Full of jokes that and one liners that i totally connected with and had me busting up. I swear people in Utah dont laugh enough. Us laie boys where the only dudes laughing in the theater LOL. Made it fun though.

If you dont know Juno is a movie about teenagers that get pregnant in High school, dont abort, and end up giving the baby up for adoption...Go watch it. Funny and real stuff. Some of you might know my friend Mike but he was in the same shoes in high school. He and his girl friend (now wife) got pregnant about the same age as Juno so after the movie i picked his brain for the way things went down effect wise in his life. I wont share that with you but that stuff makes me just a little more aware of what we as future parents will have to be prepared for with the environment our kids are growing up in.

I hate rating movies cause i rate everything as Suck or Awesome! So for Juno i will say Awesome :). Us dudes dug it i think chicks will dig it for sure. Enjoy.
